The sensual, exotic and earthy fragrance of Patchouli adds a luxurious element to any aromatherapy blend. Patchouli is a perennial herb, native to tropical regions of Asia. In order to create essential oil, a steam distillation process is used. This extracts the oil from tiny pockets of liquid held on miniscule hairs, across the leaves of the plant. Patchouli has a deeply moisturising effect and is often used in aromatherapy treatments to help restore dry and tired skin. It can also be used as an intensive treatment for cracked and damaged skin, for example on very dry heels or skin suffering with the signs of eczema. Patchouli’s deep, earthy fragrance will help to bring peace of mind, grounding the user and bringing a sense of inner calm.

Essential oil safety

Essential oils are very potent, so you have to be cautious when you use them. Remember, a little goes a long way!

Less is more! You can always add another drop, so start slow, whether you’re using your oils topically, aromatically, or internally.

Due to potency, some oils may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs, immediately apply a pure vegetable oil to the affected area to dilute. Do not use water, this will make the irritation worse because of the chemistry between your skin and the natural incompatibility of water and oils.

Always read label directions for each individual oil before use.

Do not put essential oils in eyes, ears, nose, or other areas with sensitive skin.
