Full details

What are essential oils? Essential oils are the essence of a plant, a gift from the earth, distilled and prepared for you to bring the power of nature into your home.

Inside many plants—hidden in roots, seeds, flowers, bark—are concentrated, highly potent chemical compounds. These natural compounds are essential oils.

Essential oils give a plant its scent, protect it from hazardous environmental conditions, and even assist it with pollination, among other important functions and benefits.

Essential oil safety

Essential oils are very potent, so you have to be cautious when you use them. Remember, a little goes a long way!

Less is more! You can always add another drop, so start slow, whether you’re using your oils topically, aromatically, or internally.

Due to potency, some oils may be irritating to the skin. If irritation occurs, immediately apply a pure vegetable oil to the affected area to dilute. Do not use water, this will make the irritation worse because of the chemistry between your skin and the natural incompatibility of water and oils.

Always read label directions for each individual oil before use.

Do not put essential oils in eyes, ears, nose, or other areas with sensitive skin.
