DIY Garbage Disposal Freshener with Essential Oils - Keep Your Kitchen Smelling Clean & Fresh

Are you tired of unpleasant odors wafting from your garbage disposal? Fear not! In this blog post, we will explore how to create a DIY garbage disposal freshener using essential oils. Not only are essential oils a natural and eco-friendly solution, but they also boast incredible aromatic benefits. So let's dive into the world of essential oils and learn how to keep your garbage disposal smelling fresh and clean.

Materials Needed:

  • Ice cube tray
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Water
  • Your favorite essential oils (We recommend a combination of lemon, lavender, and tea tree oils)
  • Baking soda
  • Small jar or container

Step 1: Preparing the Vinegar and Essential Oil Cubes

  1. Fill the ice cube tray halfway with distilled white vinegar.
  2. Add a few drops of your chosen essential oils to each section of the tray. For example, you can use 1-2 drops of lemon, lavender, and tea tree oils per section.
  3. Top off each section with water, filling the tray to the brim.
  4. Place the tray in your freezer and let it freeze completely. This may take a few hours or overnight.

Step 2: Creating the Baking Soda Mixture

  1. In a small jar or container, mix together 1 cup of baking soda and 15-20 drops of your chosen essential oils. Again, we recommend using lemon, lavender, and tea tree oils for their antimicrobial and refreshing properties.
  2. Stir the mixture well to ensure the essential oils are evenly distributed.

Step 3: Using the Garbage Disposal Freshener

  1. Once the vinegar and essential oil cubes are completely frozen, remove them from the ice cube tray.
  2. Turn on your garbage disposal and run cold water.
  3. Carefully drop one vinegar and essential oil cube into the running disposal.
  4. Let the disposal run for a few seconds, then turn it off and continue running the water for about 30 seconds to flush out any residue.
  5. Sprinkle a generous amount of the baking soda mixture into the garbage disposal.
  6. Allow the baking soda to sit for at least 15 minutes, then run cold water and turn on the disposal again for a few seconds to rinse.

And that's it! Your garbage disposal should now smell fresh and clean. Use this DIY freshener once a week or as needed to maintain a pleasant aroma in your kitchen. You can experiment with different essential oils to find the perfect scent for your home. Happy cleaning!
